THE COMPASS-ROSE PLOTTER
Length 400mm width 130mm. Frosted surface for marking with 2B pencil.
This design is based on the best designs of single arm protractor.
The device is greatly enlarged from its original form, which was developed for knee top plotting on single engine fighters and in use during the second world war.
This type of plotter has three major advantages over parallel rulers or navigational triangles, which need to be slid over the chart.
It reads directional information without movement over the chart.
It can be calibrated to read in degrees true, magnetic and compass.
It is very quick for co-ordinate plotting (ie. latitude and longitude), again without the need for sliding.
The plotter appears in a number of brands and for some years has been the industry standard in Britain, and most other European countries where yachting is a major pastime.
We sell 10 Compass-rose Plotters to every one set of parallel rulers. Our version, the Compass-rose Plotter, is adapted contain two other value adding features:
Distance can be measured from the chart by scribing pencil marks along the edge;
It includes a time, speed and distance table.
